June 15th: National Lobster Day

It is June 15th! Happy Lobster Day! This delectable seafood is not as abundant as other seafood dishes, so it can be a bit of a luxury! Lobster is popular in the northeastern region of the United States and Nova Scotia, Canada, as both are home to cold-water lobster. One of the most popular lobster dishes, the lobster roll, is a widely popular sandwich and staple in Maine and New England. This yumminess starts with a buttered hot dog bun and then is stuffed with lobster mixed with mayo, lemon juice, and other seasonings. Other popular lobster dishes include lobster bisque, lobster pasta, or straight-up lobster boils, where you can shell, pick, and enjoy the flavorful lobster itself, one of my favorite activities! Voodies is here to help you find your next lobster dish and share it with others!

June 16th: National Fudge Day

Fudge! What makes fudge different from other chocolate desserts? Fudge originated in the United States in the nineteenth century, and interestingly enough, it wasn’t on purpose. Fudge was accidentally created as someone was attempting to make caramel. Its main ingredients are sugar, butter, and milk, and it is made by boiling the milk/cream, sugar, and butter until it reaches a soft-ball stage, then stirring as it cools to prevent sugar from crystallizing. Chocolate tends to be the most popular flavor of fudge, but other flavors include vanilla, butter pecan, peanut butter, and many more. Head to your local candy store and pick yourself up this delicious sweet treat today!
