Voodies, a new tool to discover favorite food spots through video reviews, has allowed users to find new eateries and put all kinds of restaurants on the map. This past week, we got to connect with a couple of our most active users on Voodies. They shared a little about their backgrounds, their experiences with Voodies, and what they enjoy about the app.
Who are our Voodies reviewers? First, we talked with Czarlene from Long Beach, California. Czarlene is a self-proclaimed matcha and coffee connoisseur who loves finding new food spots and using that as an excuse to travel! We also talked with Jesse, who grew up on the islands of Lāna’i and O’ahu in Hawai‘i, and now lives in Kent, Washington. Jesse states that growing up, “I was fortunate to be surrounded by a rich blend of cultures and cuisines - from Japanese and Hawaiian to Samoan and Filipino. It was like living in a constant 'mixed plate,' full of flavor and variety.” This upbringing sparked Jesse’s passion for food and created an excitement to try new cuisines and discover unique restaurants. Both users shared their excitement and joy in finding new dining options and highlighting new places, which Voodies helps them do!

Czarlene said, “Watching people's reviews and experiences definitely provides a better indication of what to expect from that food business.” As Voodies focuses on video food reviews, the reviews can be more accurate and can better showcase the experience. Both use Voodies to find spots outside their hometowns. Jesse shared that the app has been helpful to find local spots when traveling, and states, “Seeing real people’s reactions to local spots helps me figure out what’s worth trying when traveling. My partner and I love to explore new cities, and Voodies makes it easy to scope out must-try restaurants.” Voodies is here to help make food discovery easy and fun while sharing your own experiences.

Czarlene enjoys this feature, as you can see how far it is without Google Maps, making it “direct and accessible.” Jesse also greatly enjoyed this feature and says it is “an AMAZING feature because it’s so easy to navigate.” As Voodies is here to help users find new scenes, use the discover page when looking for your next favorite spot.
